About Rob Christensen

Experience

I work for Adobe Systems in the San Francisco Bay Area helping to bring next generation products to life. Currently, I'm a senior product manager on a new cross operating system run-time known as Adobe AIR. Prior to this role, I worked as a senior program manager responsible for new product development frameworks at Macromedia and Adobe.

I've worked with leading development teams including Dreamweaver, Flash, Contribute, Captivate, Acrobat Connect, and several next-generation products including some in the mobile industry.

A ten year veteran of the software industry, I spent seven years working at Macromedia including as a developer on the leading professional web authoring tool Dreamweaver. Prior to Macromedia, I worked for NASA's Space Sciences Division developing applications to support astrobiologists and extrasolar planet hunters. I also worked at a now defunct start-up while in college where I learned quite a bit about success and failure (on my first day of the job, half the company was laid off!).

I've helped launch new products and services such as Dreamweaver UltraDev and the Macromedia Exchange, a popular online community where Macromedia and Adobe customers can find third party extensions to popular products such as Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks. In addition to being an internal advocate of product extensibility, I've trained hundreds of people on Dreamweaver's extensibility layer including internal employees and customers (both onsite and at user conferences).

Interests

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with wife, reading books on astronomy and studying up on innovation (see my blog for thoughts and observations).

I'm also known to drag friends and family out for Geocaching trips from time to time, indie film festivals, and experimenting with new technologies. I also serve as Director of Marketing for two family run businesses: the Geyserville Inn and Hoffman House Cafe. I recently designed and help create a website for the Russian artist Victor Vilner and the Foster City High School Foundation.
